Scouting Alumni Newsletter – December 2025 Dear Fellow Scouting alum, On behalf of Scouting Alumni, best wishes to you and your family for a happy holiday season and a wonderful 2026! Shortly before Thanksgiving, NPR published a story about a potential Pentagon decision to cease support to Scouting America. You all received Roger’s letter on the topic. All I want to add is gratitude for the many of you who reached out to us – and to your members of Congress – with support for our mission and the youth we serve. Our alumni know the life-changing impact Scouting creates and the way it changes lives by developing resilience, building self-confidence, expanding horizons, and instilling timeless values that have given generations of Americans a roadmap for a good, moral life. As the world continues to become more complex and the pace of change further accelerates – generative AI is but the latest example – the values and lessons that Scouting teaches will only become more important. Scouting’s outdoor classroom is a training ground for life’s complexity, with ambiguity, unexpected situations, and interpersonal challenges, among others, preparing Scouts for a life well-lived. Our alumni know this. You know this. And we are so appreciative that you value it. Thank you for sharing your experiences with others, especially those who don’t know us well. And thank you for leading a life that is a credit to Scouting. Yours in Scouting, Andrew Miller |
