Scouting Alumni Newsletter – November 2025

Dear Fellow Scouting Alumni,

November is a month of gratitude. Not only due to Thanksgiving Day, but also due to Veterans’ Day, where we commemorate those who have served in our country’s armed forces.

Gratitude is good for the soul, shows consideration for others, and, in a world that so often focuses on what we
don’t have, reframes our perspective towards what we do have.

Gratitude can come from acts of service, big and small. Scouting’s service projects, through their impacts, create gratitude in others. But they also foster a sense of gratitude in each Scout—because when we know what it takes to create gratitude in others, we are more likely to show gratitude ourselves.

So as I reflect on the blessings of my life, I am grateful for the life-shaping experiences that Scouting has given me. I am grateful for the fellowship I have experienced with Scouts, leaders, and alumni. And I am grateful for you—for your being engaged as a Scouting Alum, for your being an example of the engaged, thoughtful citizens and leaders that Scouting produces, and for your encouragement to the young people in your life to join Scouting.

And I know that you are grateful for all that Scouting has given to you.

So, in this month focused on gratitude, set aside some time to think about all that you are grateful for—you’ll be grateful that you did.

Yours in Scouting,

Andrew Miller
