Scouting Alumni Newsletter – February 2026 Dear fellow Scouting Alum, The second Sunday in February was, perhaps unsurprisingly, filled with reminders of Scouting. For starters, it marked Scouting America’s 116th birthday. On top of that, it was the culmination of the “Scout Sunday” weekend, where religious chartered partners are encouraged to celebrate their partnership with Scouting. And it all coincided with the Super Bowl! Not to mention Olympic events won by Team USA! What a combination in our nation’s semiquincentennial year! A celebration of American cultural touchstones: faith, football, fair play, character, duty, and creativity (how about those commercials?). Scouting’s alumni compete at the highest levels of sport (the Super Bowl and Olympics are but two examples), serve at the highest levels of faith (Pope Leo XIV was a Cub Scout), and provide leadership to essential civic, cultural, business, and governmental organizations (too many to choose from!). As Scouting America enters our 117th year, we have so much to celebrate and commemorate – and being able to do it in such a significant year for our country is doubly meaningful. We also have much to accomplish—as a movement, we are redoubling our efforts to recruit and retain Scouts, so that every youth in our nation has the opportunity to learn the life lessons that have set millions of Americans up for success. If there’s a loved one in your life who you think would benefit from Scouting, we’d love for them to join us! Yours in Scouting, Andrew Miller |
