Scouting Alumni Newsletter – April 2026

Dear fellow Scouting Alum,

Welcome to the monthly Scouting Alumni newsletter! We’re thrilled to have you at the digital campfire with us and hope you enjoy being connected with Scouting America.

And what a great time to be connected: while there’s a lot of Scouting activity each month, the arrival of spring seems to supercharge the pace.

Whether it’s the nice weather, the approach of summer vacations, or the way the social media algorithms work, there just seems to be more Scouting in the spring.

For many Scouts, it’s also the ramp-up to a summer of adventure. The 2026 National Jamboree, for example, is under 100 days away, while summer camps and high adventure programs start in just under two months!

Underlying all of this activity, and the preparation for it, are our volunteers. April is national Volunteer Appreciation Month, and it’s a great time to reflect on the power that a volunteer has to change lives.

I would not be the person I am today were it not for the parents who volunteered to provide Scouting to me and my classmates. I bet you feel similarly about your own experience. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who invest their time, talent, and treasure in the next generation.

April is a great month to reach out to the volunteers who changed your life and say thank you. And April is a great month to thank the current volunteers you know for what they do for youth.

It’s a simple action that means a great deal — and it’ll put a smile on both of your faces!

Yours in Scouting,
