From Eagle Scout to Navy Hero

Utilitiesman 1st Class Steven Schumacher, an Eagle Scout from Troop 451 in Lusby, Maryland, embodies the Scout Oath and Law — values that guided him when it mattered most.

On June 27, Schumacher was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the highest non-combat award for heroism, after saving a fellow sailor during a maritime training accident off the coast of Southern California.

Today, stationed in Coronado, California with the Seabees, Schumacher continues to live out the principles he learned as a Scout: bravery, service, and selflessness.

Let’s celebrate Eagle Scout Steven Schumacher, who carried the values of Scouting into the Navy and beyond.
