Our volunteer leadership team guides the association’s work of connecting and supporting Scouting alumni of every kind. Its members are Scouting alumni from across the nation and around the world. Each brings Scouting and professional expertise to the table, but most of all, each brings an unquenchable Scouting spirit and a commitment to passing it on to future generations.

Andrew Miller, Chair

Andrew Miller is an Eagle Scout, Scouting America national leader, and management consultant whose commitment to Scouting began early and has grown into a career-spanning dedication to youth development. He earned the  rank of Eagle Scout in eighth grade and spent his summers as a youth staff member at the Atlanta Area Council’s Bert Adams Scout Reservation, returning year after year to help deliver the camp experience that shaped his own Scouting journey.


While studying history and geology at Harvard University, Andrew co-founded Harvard Friends of Scouting with six fellow Eagle Scouts and helped launch a Merit Badge University. After graduation, he authored a 129-page First-Year Camper Program Guide and served on the Boy Scouts of America’s national Camp Standards Task Force. His work on first-year camper programming later extended to the National Camping School, where he helped establish a  dedicated training section on the subject.

 

Andrew’s national volunteer leadership includes chairing Scouting Alumni and serving on the Scouting America National Executive Board. His contributions have been recognized by many of Scouting’s highest honors, including the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo, National Venturing Leadership Award, Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service Award, and National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.

Professionally, Andrew is a management consultant and director at MW JONES & COMPANY in Boulder, Colorado, where his work spans the space, defense, and industrial sectors. His experience includes growth strategy, operational improvement, due diligence, and cost restructuring. He holds an MBA from Dartmouth and continues to bring his professional expertise and lifelong passion for Scouting to programs and experiences that prepare the next generation for leadership and service.

Alumni Relations and Council Support


Tim Brown, Vice Chair

Tim Brown is an Eagle Scout, longtime Scouting volunteer, and national  Advocate for alumni engagement. His Scouting journey began in 1967 as a Cub Scout, and he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1976. He has since given more than five decades of service at the local, territory, and national levels, with a focus on keeping former Scouts connected to the movement and invested in its future. His son Zachary is also an Eagle Scout.


As a national alumni leader, Tim has helped plan alumni reunions, expand our alumni communities, establish camp alumni associations, and helped to organize the inaugural National Gathering of Alumni. He also led the Alumni Relations Exhibit and Alumni Adventure Complex at the 2023 National Scout Jamboree. His broader national leadership includes service as the Vice Chair of Alumni Relations and Council Support for Scouting Alumni, and participation on both the National Eagle Scout Association Committee and the National Scouting Museum Committee.


Tim’s contributions have earned significant recognition, including the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo, Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service Award, National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Scout Award, and William T. Hornaday Gold Badge. He was also named Scouting America’s 2024 National Alumnus of the Year.


Professionally, Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Kentucky and spent the next 21 years in manufacturing. This was followed by an additional 24 years with Kentucky State Government. Tim retired in 2026 after a 45-year career in both public and private-sector management.


Tim’s commitment to history and civic education is also evident in his work with the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). He has served as President of the Kentucky Society, Vice President General of the Central District, and continues to serve on the SAR’s National Eagle Scout Committee.

Membership, Communications, and Data


Dr. Mike Matzinger, Vice Chair

Mike Matzinger is an Eagle Scout, scientist, business executive, and longtime Scouting volunteer whose commitment to Scouting began in 1969 as a Cub Scout. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1976 at age 14 and has spent more than five decades giving back to the organization that helped shape his life. Both of his sons are also Eagle Scouts.


Mike has founded seven Scouting units and currently leads three of them: Troop 600, where he has served as Scoutmaster for 20 years; Troop 219 for girls, where he has served as Scoutmaster for seven years; and Sea Scout Ship 3, where he has served as Skipper for 18 years. Under his leadership, 101 young men and 16 young women have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.


At the national level, Mike serves as vice chair of Scouting Alumni’s Membership, Communications, and Data committees. He has led improvements to the monthly association newsletter and social media platforms, a redesign of the association website, the launch of a digital badging system, the establishment of a targeted direct mail program, and the launch of a new alumni database. He also serves as a Pillar Chair on the Scouting America Scouting International committee and as Unit Leader Advocacy and Communications Lead for the National Membership Engagement Committee. His service has earned him several distinguished Scouting honors, including the Torch of Gold, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Cliff Dochterman Award, and National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.

Professionally, Mike is president of Burlington Chemical Company. He holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and is the primary inventor on 32 patents. Outside Scouting, he serves as board chair of the Black Suit Initiative, sits on the board of the Guilford County Partnership for Children, and is an area coordinator for the International Federation of Scouting Rotarians.

Finance and Strategy


Andrew Kudasik, Vice Chair

An Eagle Scout and longtime volunteer, Andy has served as a Troop Committee Member and Chair since 2010. Andy serves as National Alumni Vice Chair, Revenue & Strategy for Scouting America and as President of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council (NEPC).

He joined the NEPA Council Executive Board in 2021 and became Council President in January 2025. He leads a council based in Moosic, Pennsylvania, that serves 2,500 Scouts across Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Wayne, and Wyoming counties, along with portions of Susquehanna County. Under his leadership, the council supports Goose Pond Scout Reservation near Lake Wallenpaupack, home to summer camp since 1920, and Camp Acahela in Blakeslee, the council’s premier Cub Scout camp.

Professionally, Andy is a Vice President and commercial relationship manager in Corporate and Institutional Banking at PNC Bank, advising business leaders across Northeast Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. He holds an MBA from the University of Scranton and is a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran. He brings that experience in growth, partnerships, and stewardship to Scouting, with a focus on strengthening the resources that keep the program strong for the next generation of Scouts.
