In Cornelia, Georgia, a community legacy is being renewed. Nearly 100 years after Troop 24 was founded, and 75 years after their scout hut was built in Cornelia City Park, the city, Habersham Kiwanis Club, and local Scouts are joining forces to restore this historic building โ a place that has shaped generations of young leaders.
During its October 7, 2025, meeting, the Cornelia City Commission approved a partnership to renovate and preserve the beloved hut. The city will assist with site preparation, utilities, and landscaping, while Scouts and volunteers will take on much of the hands-on restoration.
The project also honors the late Walt Crowder, a longtime Scout supporter and community leader, whose vision and service continue to inspire the effort.
With Troop 24 and Cub Pack 24 both growing again, this restoration ensures that future generations of Scouts will have a revitalized home for learning, service, and leadership.
