Cub Scout Service Project Featured on CBS News

by Mike Matzinger

For more than a century, children have awakened on Christmas morning to find a teddy bear waiting under the tree. One child took that simple joy and turned it into something much bigger, bringing comfort to children who need it most.

Tom Hanson of CBS News recently shared the story of a thriving Cub Scout donation drive led by 9-year-old Jack from Pack 3111 in Dublin, Ohio.

Last year, Jack volunteered to help make blankets for patients at a children’s hospital in nearby Columbus. Wanting to do even more, he launched Jack’s Bravery Bears. Now in its second year, the teddy bear drive is gaining attention across Ohio and from national online news outlets.

Just before Christmas, Jack and his family delivered the first round of donations, more than 400 teddy bears. A second delivery is planned for next month.
