From Eagle Scout to Emory Eagle – Leah Wang is Flying High

by Mike Matzinger

Leah Wang’s journey is defined by leadership, service, and impact. Before joining the Emory University women’s soccer team, she was among the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts.

Now a junior at Emory majoring in history and business, Leah continues to lead on and off the field. In 2024, she was selected for the NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program and attended the 2025 NCAA Convention, gaining hands-on insight into college athletics governance and leadership.

An advocate for women in sports, Leah spoke before the U.S. Congress on National Girls and Women in Sports Day 2025 in support of the Fair Play for Women Act to strengthen Title IX. Through her work with the Voice In Sport Foundation, she was also recognized as a 2025 Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award Regional Honoree by the Billie Jean King Foundation.

On campus, Leah founded and serves as president of the Asian and Pacific Islander Student-Athlete group, fostering community and representation among student-athletes.

Balancing academics, athletics, and advocacy, Leah exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose, building community, championing equity, and making an impact far beyond the soccer field.
