January 19, 2026 will be a meaningful day for Scouts nationwide as they take part in the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service. This day calls every American to strengthen their community through volunteer work, and Scouts will be stepping forward to lead with purpose.
Units across the country are preparing projects that reflect the values Dr. King championed. Scouts will help with community cleanups, support shelters and food programs, assist local service organizations, and find thoughtful ways to lift up neighbors who could use a helping hand. It will be a “Day On, Not a Day Off” with young people showing what service in action truly looks like.
Dr. King experienced the spirit of service as a member of Troop 151 in Atlanta. His time in Scouting helped shape the leadership and community commitment that later became central to his life and legacy.
As we look ahead to MLK Day 2026, this is the moment for alumni to support and inspire the next generation. Encourage your local unit, share your skills, or join a project yourself. When Scouts serve with intention, they honor Dr. King’s message and continue the work of building strong and caring communities.
