Author: Mike Matzinger

Arthur F. “Mac” McLean III of Greenville, South Carolina, has been named a 2025 Territories Alumnus of the Year, representing CST 15.

An Eagle Scout from the Pee Dee Area Council, Mac began his Scouting journey in 1971 as a Cub Scout. He later became deeply involved with the Blue Ridge Council, where he served as Council President, Area President, and as a member of the Southern Region Executive Board.

Mac has been an active member of the Scouting Alumni National Committee since 2020 and joined the NESA Membership Subcommittee in 2023. He played a key role in the planning and execution of the inaugural National Gathering of Alumni held at Philmont in 2022. Locally, he has supported numerous Scouting reunions and alumni initiatives across multiple councils.

Mac has also led the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) booth at the National Order of the Arrow Conferences (NOAC) and helped organize the NESA Dinner—two of the largest gatherings of Eagle Scouts in the country in both 2022 and 2024.

Behind the scenes, Mac has made lasting contributions through projects such as developing a comprehensive archive of NESA newsletters and meticulously reviewing and updating the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award (DESA) recipient list to ensure national records remain accurate.

Professionally, Mac has been an attorney with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. since 1989 and has been a certified specialist in taxation law since 1994. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America and named to Greenville Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite of the Upstate.”
