Three Scouts from Montville, NJ — Makayo Cheung (15), Thomas Jenkins (15), and Chase Eagan (17) — have made history by bringing home first place at the 2025 International Rocketry Challenge in Paris!
Representing Troop 74, the team qualified by winning the American Rocketry Challenge earlier this year. What began as a pandemic hobby for Makayo evolved into a top-tier rocketry team built on shared passion, engineering skill, and Scouting values.
Their winning design safely carried two raw eggs over 815 feet in altitude and back—outperforming over 1,000 U.S. teams and international finalists from the UK, France, and Japan.
Congratulations to the Troop 74 Rocketeers — an inspiring example of how Scouting fuels curiosity, innovation, and future STEM leadership.
