Andrew Albert of East New Market, Maryland, knows the lifesaving power of blood donation—because it saved his own life. Born with a rare genetic disorder (XLP), Andrew underwent a bone marrow transplant and received lifesaving blood products as a child. Years later, he turned that experience into purpose.
Now 17 and a member of Scouts BSA Troop 754, Andrew organized three community blood drives as part of his Eagle Scout service project—bringing together classmates, neighbors, and local partners to strengthen the blood supply.
Andrew’s story is a powerful reminder to scouting alumni everywhere: our values don’t fade. Leadership, resilience, and service continue to shape lives long after the uniform comes off.
