Last January, in freezing winter conditions, Chris Kirk of Troop 547 in Albertville, Minnesota, bravely jumped into the Crow River to rescue a truck driver who had crashed into the water. His quick thinking and courage exemplify the Scouting values of service and leadership, demonstrating how Scouts make a real difference in their communities.
Watch his recent recognition from Scouting America, bestowing Chris with the national Heroism Award for lifesaving and meritorious action, and hear how his preparation through Scouting saved a life.
