Jackson Bullock of Scouts BSA Troop 159 completed his Eagle Scout project at the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, Texas, where he received therapy as a child.
Wanting to create a project with lasting impact, Jackson led an effort to build and install an outdoor sensory course along with new bookshelves for the waiting room. He also secured donated books and a reusable stencil kit for a sensory path that can be expanded over time.
According to Alina Fifer, CEO of Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center, the outdoor sensory course has transformed the therapy experience, helping patients improve agility, mobility, and coordination, and encouraging children who were once hesitant to begin therapy to actively look forward to their sessions.
